THE SACRIFICIAL CS? Inside the Deadly Plot to Force John Mbadi Out Over Sh12B State House Looting

Recent allegations surrounding a Sh12 billion State House scandal have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, reportedly putting Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi at the center of a high-stakes exit plot.

Critics and insiders suggest that "deadly" handlers within the presidency are orchestrating a narrative to scapegoat Mbadi for unauthorized expenditures to protect higher-ranking officials.

This turmoil comes as the government faces intense scrutiny over Article 223 withdrawals, with the necessity of a forensic audit becoming the primary demand of an increasingly skeptical public and opposition.

Saitabao Ole Kanchory, the former chief agent for Azimio, has added fuel to the fire by explaining why the recent conduct of ODM-allied Cabinet Secretaries would have deeply disappointed the late Raila Odinga.

Kanchory argues that John Mbadi, Opiyo Wandayi, and Junet Mohammed have abandoned their roles as "people’s watchdogs" to become cogs in the very machinery they once criticized.

By allegedly prioritizing their survival within the "broad-based" government over the transparency Raila championed, Kanchory suggests these leaders have effectively orphaned the opposition's core values.

The necessity of analyzing the specific utterances of these leaders reveals a perceived "betrayal" of the ODM grassroots.

During recent public addresses, Junet and Wandayi have been accused of moving toward a "two-term" endorsement for President Ruto, a stance that Kanchory claims contradicts the mandate given to them by the party.

This shift in loyalty is seen by many as a survival tactic amidst the Sh12 billion scandal, as leaders scramble to align with the executive to avoid being the next "sacrificial lamb" in a cabinet reshuffle or corruption probe.

Evidence of a "State House Meltdown" is further supported by the recent reports from the Controller of Budget, which highlighted billions of shillings withdrawn for "travel and hospitality" during a period of national economic austerity.

Mbadi, as the head of the National Treasury, finds himself in a precarious position—forced to defend these disbursements while simultaneously trying to implement the unpopular privatization of state assets.

The necessity of tracking these late-night treasury approvals is critical, as they provide the factual basis for the "looting" claims currently being used to de-campaign the ODM wing in the cabinet.

Ultimately, the potential exit of John Mbadi and the alienation of other Raila loyalists could signal the final collapse of the "broad-based" experiment.

If the Sh12 billion scandal leads to high-profile resignations, it will validate Kanchory’s warnings that the opposition was "swallowed" rather than incorporated.

As the 2027 General Election approaches, the necessity of a clean break from the current administration becomes more apparent for those who wish to salvage their political futures, making the next few weeks a defining moment for the remains of the Azimio coalition.
