Tensions have erupted within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after Youth Leader Jared Oyie sharply criticized Kasmuel McOure for allegedly attacking the party’s Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, during a heated public exchange.
Speaking during an interview on Morning Café aired on TV47, Oyie questioned McOure’s political background, demanding to know which constituency he represents before “lecturing” senior party officials on party matters and internal leadership.
“Which constituency does that young man come from before he comes here to lecture our SG Sifuna? If he’s someone’s mouthpiece, we will shut that mouth,” Oyie stated in an emotionally charged response.
The remarks came after McOure, a vocal ODM youth figure, publicly criticized Edwin Sifuna’s leadership style, accusing him of losing touch with grassroots supporters and undermining internal party democracy in favor of personal interests.
McOure, who has recently made several media appearances, has not been identified as an elected representative of any constituency. His involvement in ODM appears limited to youth mobilization and public political commentary rather than formal representation.
According to McOure has in the past dared Sifuna to resign, accusing him of betraying the ideals of the party’s founding vision and allegedly aligning himself too closely with rival political camps.
Oyie’s comments reflect growing factional tensions within ODM, as younger members demand greater recognition while senior officials insist on maintaining discipline and respect for established party structures and leadership.
