Amount of Bullets Museveni Has Given Each Police Officer After Learning When Demos Might Erupt

Uganda’s opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has warned that he will lead nationwide anti-government protests if President Yoweri Museveni’s administration mishandles the January elections.

Kyagulanyi, the presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP), said the government is already displaying signs of election malpractice, including rigging and intimidation.

He argued that protests would only be avoided if authorities conduct a free and fair election and refrain from interfering with the democratic process.

According to Bobi Wine, state agencies are restricting access to media outlets, disrupting his campaign activities, and arresting his supporters in an effort to undermine his chances of victory.

He claimed these actions are part of a broader strategy to frustrate the opposition and suppress dissent.

He further alleged that the government has chosen a violent approach, preferring to confront citizens with force rather than allow Ugandans to express their will through credible elections

“The government has prepared 120 bullets for each officer, which is a sign of a brutal government that wants to respond to peaceful protests with gunfire. You cannot kill all Ugandans. The people will decide their fate,” Kyagulanyi is quoted by BBC.

His remarks followed President Museveni’s admission that security forces are fully armed and prepared to stop any demonstrations.

Museveni dismissed Kyagulanyi’s claims, saying: “Don’t listen to Kyagulanyi; his views on our security are ill-informed. His claim that there are not enough officers against the rioters is a distortion. One officer has 120 bullets, that’s the number. Uganda is indestructible, and anyone who tries will end up regretting it."
