"He Is Untrustworthy Leader" Ndindi Nyoro Declares He Won't Back Ruto's Reelection In 2027

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has made a bold declaration that he will not support President William Ruto in the 2027 general election, citing a deteriorated relationship and lack of trust in the current administration.

Speaking in an interview, Nyoro criticized the politics that brought Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to power, calling it “immoral” and reflective of his younger, less experienced days in politics.

Nyoro recounted that during the 2022 campaign, he and other politicians engaged in practices that targeted opponents personally to secure electoral victories.

“We fought with people and interfered with them to the point of tarnishing their names so that we could win power. It was stupid politics. I was young then, now I am wise,” Nyoro said.

The MP stressed that moving forward, he intends to pursue a more civilized, thoughtful, and principled approach to politics.

He emphasized that he would not align himself with any policies of Ruto’s administration, which he described as failing to address the pressing issues facing ordinary Kenyans.

“He is an untrustworthy leader who leads a government that has failed in its responsibility of solving the challenges faced by the citizenry, adding that the regime is tolerating bad policies,” Nyoro said.

Nyoro further explained that his decision is partly motivated by personal experiences within government structures.

He recalled a promise Ruto made in April 2025 at State House in Sagana, stating that Nyoro would be politically promoted.

However, Nyoro was subsequently removed from his position as Chairman of the Budget Committee in Parliament, a decision he claims was orchestrated by high-ranking government officials.

“He lied that he was promoting me politically, and his statement hurt me because that was when I was being removed as the chairman of the Budget Committee. He was promoting me when I was being stripped of my position?” he questioned.

While Nyoro has confirmed he will not back Ruto, he indicated that he is still considering the political wing he will ultimately join.

He stressed the importance of careful calculations before aligning with any group, acknowledging that the political landscape is fluid and likely to change over the next 20 months leading to the election.

“It is not wise to start joining political alliances early. Things will change, and all the parties you see now will not make it to 2027 on their current paths,” Nyoro noted.

Nyoro also underscored his commitment to the people of his Kiharu constituency, stating that his involvement in national politics will not diminish his focus on local development and representation.

“The political wing that unites will be the one that cares about Kenyans and fulfills their political interests,” he said.

His announcement comes amid a broader wave of opposition to Ruto’s reelection. Political leaders such as Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, among others, have openly vowed that Ruto should serve only one term.

Other emerging political movements, including the Kenya Moja wing led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and rebel ODM politicians, are also positioning themselves in opposition.
