Embakasi East Member of Parliament and Nairobi county gubernatorial contenter Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino has expressed readiness to ditch the orange party if the party does not hold free and fair party primaries.
Speaking to Nation Africa, Owino made it clear that he intends to contest for the Nairobi City's top seat on the ODM party but also expressed readiness to ditch it should he be shortchanged in the party primaries.
According to Owino, the Orange party may deny him the ticket as a result of possible zoning that could come as a result of the UDA, ODM dalliance but maintained that the final decision lies with the people of Nairobi.
Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa has also expressed interest in the Nairobi county gubernatorial seat. He and Owino are jostling for the ODM party ticket.
However, other sources have predicted that the party could altogether fail to front a candidate as it happened in 2022 when it was forced to support Polycarp Igathe as a result of its alliance with the Jubilee party.
