The man, identified as Collins Kariuki, says he was deeply moved by Truphena’s strength and determination after watching her complete a demanding environmental challenge that attracted attention across the country.
Truphena Muthoni, a 22-year-old woman from Nyeri County, became an internet sensation after hugging a tree continuously for 72 hours.
Her action was meant to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting trees. The challenge tested her physical and mental strength, but she remained calm and focused until the end.
Collins Kariuki, who works as a master of ceremonies (MC) in Embu, said he followed Truphena’s journey closely online.
According to him, watching her endure the long hours while staying disciplined and peaceful made him admire her deeply. Over time, that admiration turned into strong feelings of love.
Speaking about his feelings, Collins said Truphena represents the kind of woman he has always hoped to have as a life partner.
