RIP: Beautiful Photos of Embu Businesswoman Who Was Raped, Murdered and Dumped in a River

Grief and fear have filled Kanginga Village in Embu County after the body of 35-year-old businesswoman Catherine Muthoni was found dumped near River Thuci.

Her disappearance was first reported on October 12 after she left home to look for pasture along the riverbanks but never returned.

Residents who joined the search discovered her body hidden in a rock crevice close to the river.

Police say the body had a cloth tied around her neck, a clear indication that she may have been attacked, strangled and later dumped in the river.

The discovery has sent shock and anger across the village as calls for justice grow louder.

The area chief said that Catherine Muthoni had been reported missing at his office one month earlier after she disappeared together with her husband.

He explained that the couple had separated before she went to look for grass near the river.

He added that when she failed to return home, her husband reported the matter at Kiumo Police Post, saying she could not be found.

The chief further said that after one month authorities discovered that she was the person who had been dumped in the river.

He noted that rangers found her body tied with a rope around her neck, which suggested she had been killed and then thrown into the river.

The family said that they wanted justice for the young woman and insisted that justice was necessary so their hearts could find peace.

Local leaders have urged residents to remain calm as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations continue with forensic analysis and witness statements.

The community is now hoping for a swift and transparent investigation to bring answers and justice for Catherine.
