Wavinya Ndeti Warns Rivals of Tougher Challenges Ahead of 2027 Elections

Saturday, December 20, 2025 – Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has issued a stern warning to her political opponents, signalling that they should prepare for a more formidable contest in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a rally in Mlolongo, Ndeti highlighted her dedication to fulfilling her mandate to the people of Machakos County.

“My focus is on delivering for the residents who elected me. That is my immediate responsibility, and I intend to carry it out with utmost fidelity,” she stated.

The governor reflected on her political journey, particularly her recent victories in the region, emphasising that her opponents have consistently underestimated her political strength.

“My opponents came here to Mumbuni, attacking me with every single opportunity, and I defeated all of them. That was just the beginning of the defeat they will face,” Ndeti said, asserting that her political resilience remains unshaken.

Her remarks come shortly after the Mumbuni North by-election, where her party, the Wiper Patriotic Front, strengthened its hold in Machakos.

The Wiper candidate, Anthony Kisoi, emerged victorious in the Member of County Assembly (MCA) race, securing 3,849 votes, surpassing Harrison Wambua of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, who garnered 2,766 votes.

Ndeti framed this victory as an early demonstration of Wiper’s enduring influence in the region.

“I tell them that was only the beginning of what will come,” Ndeti added, sending a clear message to rivals that underestimating her political machinery could be costly.

“I have no time to argue with detractors. You entrusted me with work, and I am focused on doing it. When the time comes, we will show them their place. They should underestimate me at their own peril,” she warned.

Governor Ndeti also responded to remarks by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Hassan Omar, who had referred to Wiper as a “village party.”

She criticised Omar for belittling the contributions of her party, which has historically nurtured several national leaders.

“Nimesikia mwingine hapa ati anasema chama cha Wiper ni village party, na hata alikuwa senator kwa sababu alipewa na chama cha Wiper, anaitwa Omar Hassan. Yeye aliingia kwanza kiti cha Senator kwa sababu ya Wiper. Wametudharaura lakini tutakimbizana nao kabisa,” Ndeti said.

She further stated that Omar’s comments overlooked the fact that his political visibility and opportunities were made possible through Wiper’s platform.

“Number one, wewe Omar ulionekana na Ruto kwa sababu ulipitia Wiper; kama haungepitia Wiper hata UDA haingekuona. Kwa hivyo patia Wiper heshima. Mkitupatia heshima mtapata heshima,” she said.
