Planned 9-Hours Long Power Blackout Tomorrow, Check Out If You Are Among Affected Areas

 

Kenya Power has scheduled essential electricity maintenance for Sunday, 18th January 2026, affecting specific areas in Nairobi, North Rift, and Western regions. 

The necessary work will result in temporary power interruptions to facilitate system upgrades and ensure long-term supply reliability.

In Nairobi County, a section along Lunga Lunga Road and Likoni Road will experience a power suspension from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

Affected customers include House of Manji, Wheatabix, Ashut Head Office, Smithkline Beecham, Lunga Lunga Square, Mareba Enterprises, Nairobi Plastics, Cosmos, and Sansora Group.

The interruption will also cover the entire Rangwe Road, Clesoi Road, Sasio Road, Lokitaung Road, and all adjacent properties.

Within Uasin Gishu County, the West Indies Estate area will be without power from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 

This will impact Gulab Lochab Academy, Paul’s Bakery, sections of the West Indies Estate, the Bondeni area, and neighbouring customers.

In Kakamega County, the maintenance will affect the Namulungu area between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. 

Locations impacted include Kholera, Namulungu, Mukweya, Mirere, Namanga, Namalenge, and all surrounding customers.

The company has apologized for the inconvenience, emphasizing that the planned outage is crucial for network safety and improvement. 

All lines should be treated as live during the maintenance period. For further details, customers should contact the Kenya Power Customer Care Centre.
