Naomba Nichomwe: Shock as Marakwet Lady Who Predicted Own Death, Calculated Her Funeral Expenses & Posted It Online Dies

A deep sense of sadness has swept through Elgeyo Marakwet after the death of Sandra Kiprono, a young woman from Kapsowar who had once written and shared her own funeral budget online.

Her passing, which occurred exactly two years after that post, has left many Kenyans reflecting on life, pain, and destiny.

Sandra’s story first caught attention in October 2023 when she took to Facebook and shared what looked like a “farewell message.”

In that emotional post, she listed all the items that would be needed for her burial, including mortuary fees, food, and transport.

Her total budget was about KSh 100,000, with KSh 20,000 meant to help her family after her burial.

At the time, many thought she was only joking or expressing frustration. But her words carried a heavy tone.

“Right now I can’t even afford KSh 200,” she wrote.

“If I die, just cremate me. My mother will not lack firewood or a matchstick.”

She also told politicians who usually send small contributions to funerals not to bother coming to hers.

Two years later, tragedy struck. On the same date she had shared her post, Sandra died after a short illness.

The shocking timing left friends and church members heartbroken. “She was full of life and hope. None of us imagined those words would come true,” one of her choir members said.

Sandra was known for her active role in church as the youth chairperson at St. Augustine Kiplabai Station.

Friends described her as humble, caring, and full of laughter. Many took to social media to share emotional messages and prayers for her family.

“She celebrated her last birthday with so much joy,” one close friend wrote.

“We never knew it was her final one.”
