Gachagua's Endorsement of Kalonzo as Opposition's Best Bet Turns Sour as Matiang'i Camp Fights Back

Gachagua's recent endorsement of Kalonzo Musyoka as opposition team's best bet to beating president William Ruto has rattled the outfit causing jitters among the Uhuru-Matiang'i faction.

According to sources, Gachagua's abrupt endorsement of Mr Kalonzo during a late night Tv interview saw the outfit hold two different meetings on Thursday, just before Madaraka celebrations.

Fred Matiang'i, Martha Karua and spokesperson Mukhisa Kituyi were holding a parallel meeting and later issued their own communique.

While speaking to Nation Africa, both Jubilee party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and PLP party leader Martha Karua distanced themselves from any 'boardroom decision' endorsing Kalonzo as the coalition's best bet.

Kioni insisted that the decision on who will fly the outfit's flag must be made by the people but not by a few individuals in boardrooms.

"It is too early. These decisions must be made afew days to the election," Kioni insisted. Kioni has also rejected attempts to zone Nairobi.

However, his sentiments have not been taken lightly by DCP and WIPER stalwarts who are accusing the party of speaking from both sides of the mouth.

"The problem with Jubilee is that they have one leg in government and another leg in opposition," argued Makueni senator Dan Maanzo.

Kitutu Chache MP Anthony Kibagendi has also weighed in on the early endorsement debate accusing Gachagua of triggering early succession wars.

"He is careless in the way he communicates and lays all his cards on the table. He has little political emotional intelligence. Time is not right to name endorsements, let everyone grow their brands first," Kibagendi argued.
