MP Caroli Omondi Issues Stern Warning To Eddy Oketch After Filing Motion To Kick Sifuna Out Of ODM

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has sharply criticized Migori Senator Eddy Oketch over his latest attempt to discipline ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

Omondi described the move as legally unfounded and warned that it could harm Oketch’s political standing.

Omondi said Oketch’s complaint lacks legal basis and amounts to a reckless political maneuver.

He revealed that he had already advised Oketch privately to reconsider the action to avoid further embarrassment.

According to Omondi, similar complaints by Oketch in the past were dismissed, and costs were awarded against him and ODM.

The MP also defended Sifuna’s public statements on the party’s internal affairs, arguing that the issues being raised now were not new.

Omondi accused some party insiders of exploiting ODM for personal gain and suggested that recent public disputes are exposing those misusing party resources.

Oketch, in a formal letter to ODM dated January 5, 2026, asked the party to suspend, de-whip, and possibly expel Sifuna.

The senator accused Sifuna of gross misconduct, violating the ODM Constitution, and breaking the Political Parties Act.

Among the allegations, Oketch claimed Sifuna associated with rival political parties while presenting himself as ODM’s Secretary General.

He also accused Sifuna of defying party discipline by publicly rejecting the party’s support for the Broad-Based Government arrangement.

A key concern raised by Oketch relates to Sifuna’s remarks on the funding of ODM’s 2022 presidential campaign.

Oketch argued that Sifuna revealed confidential information about the sourcing and disbursement of campaign funds, particularly during a public fallout with Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.
